"we are part of the World Taekwondo Federation"
And Our Relations
We may be separated from the rest of the UK by a stretch of water, but we are thriving under command of Area Instructor 6th Dan Master Glen Culbert. The UTA NI has been formed for more than 25 years. Over the last 2 years alone, its experienced huge developments and expansion.
Established under WTF regulations and is part of the UTA
Aims to promote Taekwondo practice in NI
Has produced many quality Dan grades, Instructors and regular competitors
Regular travels all over the UK for competitions & seminars
Receives many guests to share their knowledge
Regular training sessions include squad training, Poomsae and technical training
United Taekwondo Association
Chairman of the UTA in the UK is 8th Dan Master T W Shin, who trained our very own Master Culbert and himself trained under 9th Dan Grand Master Kim Soon Bae. Master Shin has established UTA status through maintaining a high standard of Taekwondo practice in the UK.
UTA is a recognised member Group of the BTCB - British Taekwondo Control Board. This is recognised by the WTF as the governing body for Taekwondo in the United Kingdom.
UTA Northern Ireland is a part of the UTA, also a member of the BTCB NI and Taekwondo Association Northern Ireland (Tani). This is the Umbrella Taekwondo body recognised by Sport Northern Ireland (Sport NI).
UTA NI can give elite players the opportunities to be selected and compete for the UK, through BTCB NI regional training sessions and BTCB national training sessions.
UTA NI elite players who wish compete for Ireland have the opportunity to get selected and do so, this is through a Memorandum of understanding with the ITU and Tani.
Within UTA NI the underlying philosophies are never forgotten and through Etiquette, Modesty, Self-Control, Perseverance and Indomitable Spirit, the association continues to grow.
